At Powder Paws, your animal’s health and well being are our absolute priority. We are always striving to provide the best possible care for your family members and we are proud to offer medical acupuncture with Katie Clawson, DVM, cVMA. Medical acupuncture is a western medicine based approach utilizing neuroanatomy and physiology to guide needle placement.
Acupuncture has a wealth of research supporting its benefits to patients and is recognized as an effective pain-relieving therapy in human medicine. In our veterinary patients, it can be used for a variety of conditions and can relax muscles, stimulate nerves, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, increase tissue blood flow, and triggers the release of natural endorphins and opioids in the body.
Acupuncture can be used alone or in conjunction with traditional medications to provide your pet with the best possible quality of life.
The use of acupuncture can also potentially provide us with the opportunity to have your pets on the lowest possible prescribed dose of medications while maintaining comfort.
Our initial acupuncture consultation is 1-hour. Following this, each session takes 20-30 minutes and can include the use of dry needling, electroacupuncture techniques, and laser therapy.
